The Open and Distance Education Faculty (AUZEF) operates under Istanbul University, specializing in open education and distance learning programs. Since its inception in 2009, AUZEF has embraced the realm of distance education and began welcoming students into its open education programs in 2011. Today, it stands as one of Turkey's leading digital faculties, continually advancing its offerings and reputation.

As of 2024, AUZEF hosts a total of 47 active programs, comprising 36 open education and 11 distance learning programs. Among these, 20 are bachelor's degrees, 23 are associate degrees, and 4 are programs designed for degree completion.

Utilizing digital teaching and learning methods, AUZEF provides all students with the opportunity to receive an education that meets Istanbul University standards without the constraints of time or place. Unlike traditional educational models, students are not required to attend campus; courses are conducted entirely online through internet and computer/mobile devices. Participants can revisit the material at their convenience through a virtual platform.
